Velma came to the shelter from a hoarding case involving over 60 dogs that were all kept outdoors. When she arrived at the shelter she was absolutely terrified of her new surroundings. Velma had never even worn a collar or walked on a leash. She was then selected to participate in the Puppies for Parole program where she has proven to be a star student! Velma is now leash-trained, crate-trained, housebroken, well-mannered and knows all her basic commands. Velma is a social butterfly with other dogs and loves to play! When she get excited to say hello to someone she shows off her pretty `smile` by scrunching up her nose and showing off her pearly whites - which usually then leads to her rolling over and showing her belly for a rub! Velma loves affection and has the sweetest personality. All she needs now is a family to call her own. If you are interested in meeting Velma contact the shelter at 816-271-5363.
